RXTE Observations of 1A 1744–361: Correlated Spectral and Timing Behavior
We analyze Rossi X–ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) Proportional Counter Array (PCA) data of the transient low mass X–ray binary (LMXB) system 1A 1744–361. We explore the X–ray intensity and spectral evolution of the source, perform timing analysis, and find that 1A 1744–361 shows ‘atoll’ behavior during the outbursts. The color-color diagram indicates that this LMXB was observed in a low intensity s...
متن کاملThe Pattern of Correlated X-ray Timing and Spectral Behavior in GRS 1915+105
From data obtained from the PCA in the 2-11 keV and 11-30.5 keV energy range, GRS 1915+105 is seen during RXTE observations between 1996 May and October on two separate branches in a hardness intensity diagram. On the hard branch, GRS 1915+105 exhibits narrow quasi-periodic oscillations ranging from 0.5 to 6 Hz with ∆ν ν ∼ 0.2. The QPOs are observed over intensities ranging from about 6,000 to ...
متن کاملCorrelated X-ray Spectral and Timing Behavior of the Black Hole Candidate Xte J1550–564
We present an analysis of data of the black hole X-ray transient XTE J1550–564, taken with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer between 1998 November 22 and 1999 May 20. During this period the source went through several different states, which could be divided into soft and hard states, based on the relative strength of the high energy power law tail. These states showed up as distinct branches in ...
متن کاملCorrelated X–ray timing and spectral behavior of GX 349+2: RXTE PCA data
We present a detailed and systematic investigation of correlated spectral and timing properties of the Z source GX 349+2, using a huge amount (∼ 40 ks) of good quality data from September 29, 1998 to October 13, 1998, obtained with the Proportional-Counter-Array on-board RXTE satellite. We, for the first time, give a detailed comparison between the normal-branch-properties and the flaring-branc...
متن کاملTiming and Spectral Behavior of the Rapid Burster
We present an X-ray fast-timing and spectral analysis of the type II bursts and the persistent emission (PE) of the Rapid Burster observed with the EXOSAT Medium-Energy Instrument. The Hardness-Intensity and Color-Color Diagrams of the Rapid Burster are somewhat different from those of the majority of other low-mass X-ray binaries, which fall into two distinct groups, “atoll” and “Z” sources. T...
